4. Plastic films

  • Stroke speed: 2 – 10 strokes / minute
  • Pile height: approximately 35 mm / 1 ¼"
  • Circumferential speed of approximately 17 m/ minute means for

Drill bit diameter Spindle rotation speed

  • 4 mm = appr. 5/32" 1,350 rpm
  • 5 mm = appr. 13/64" 1,100 rpm
  • 6 mm = appr. ¼" 900 rpm
  • 7 mm = appr. 9/32" 770 rpm
  • 8 mm = appr. 5/16" 680 rpm
  • 9 mm = appr. 11/32" 600 rpm

With plastic films

  • larger diameters are easier to drill than smaller ones
  • drill bit cooling and lubrication is essential
  • the chips have to be cleaned out of the drill bits right after finishing the job by drilling 3 – 4 times through a 2" pile of offset paper

If you cannot reach satisfactory results with these recommendations please send us a pile of sample material. Please inform us about the needed hole diameter and describe the problems to us.
